Hi there!

I'm Jessica. I help make information easier to find, understand, and trust — right now through hands-on work in web content and governance at a state agency, where I’m auditing web domains, helping write governance policy, and rebuilding confusing pages so people can find what they need. It's information architecture and content governance, put into practice.

That instinct isn't new, though. It’s something I'd been doing for over 20 years as a German and French > English translator, specializing in transportation, logistics, and corporate communications. Translation, at its core, is about making information make sense for the person on the other end, and that's the thread running through everything I do now.

In 2025 I earned a Certificate in Professional Technical Writing from the University of Washington, which sparked an interest in UX, content, and especially structured authoring and content reuse. I got a taste of what's out there and had to have more. I began an MS program in Information Science (expected May 2027) and will earn graduate certificates in Digital Content Management and Digital Curation and Data Management along the way.

I love figuring out processes and identifying the gaps, figuring out where users get hung up and what's not working, and making things easier. See some examples of what I’ve been working on in my portfolio.
